From 1 February 2026, General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners will be allowed to make a formal diagnosis of Adult ADHD and initiate stimulant treatment.
Currently most prescriptions are given in 3-month instalments and patients need to see their provider for repeat prescriptions or request them via the phone or patient portal. From 1st February 2026 prescribers will be able to issue some patients with a prescription for 12 months, but only if it is clinically safe to do so.
