How to get a pre-departure COVID travel test:
Please ring the practice to organise a time for your test. The test cost is $138.00 for laboratory costs plus $19.50 for the nurse consultation fee.
Please ensure you work within the timeframes required from the time of your test to your flight.

Pre-departure testing must be requested on or before 72 hours from when the result is required (not flight departure time). If a traveller presents with less than 72 hours before they require their result, they should be aware of the likelihood they will not make their flight.
Medical practices must include relevant details on the test request form such as “Pre-departure COVID-19 Test”, “Clearance” or “Travel”. This allows the laboratory to identify the purpose of testing.
Our nurse will help you complete the necessary information for your test to be processed, so please come to the practice with information about the time and date of your departure.

Getting your test results:
Due to the uncertainty around turnaround times for your COVID test result our advice is for patients take the sample to Labtests themselves:

Turnaround time for results can be improved if samples are sent directly to Labtests' Mt Wellington laboratory (eg. delivered by taxi or the passenger themselves).This option is available Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Do not call Labtests Urgent Couriers, this service is for clinically urgent samples only.

You will get a text with the result. You then need to pick up the original printout of the Labtest result from Kaipara Medical Centre. When you are planning to collect your test result please factor in that we are not open on Saturday after midday or all day Sunday and public holidays. It is best to call us prior to coming in so we can print the result and get it signed.
The lab result form must be signed by one of our GP and have the Kaipara Medical Centre stamp on it.
You can also ask to have the document scanned as a PDF and emailed to you. We suggest you also take a photo of the document and have it on your phone.
