How our Nurse Practitioners can support you

Nurse practitioners (NPs) are expert nurses with advanced clinical training and a master’s degree, allowing them to work independently and provide comprehensive care to patients. They can diagnose conditions, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and manage treatment plans. NPs work in a similar capacity to general practitioners (GPs).

At Kaipara Medical Centre, our nurse practitioners Beth and Sacha hold their own cohort of patients, and you may find that an NP is your primary healthcare provider. See our team here.

A friendly reminder about our acute care walk-in clinic

Please note that if you attend our Acute Care walk-in clinic for a non-urgent matter - such as a long-term medical certificate, routine medication review, or blood pressure check - you may be asked to return at another time. This helps us prioritise patients with acute illnesses during the busy winter season.

Please remember: our acute care walk-in clinic is only for:

  • Enrolled patients
  • Urgent (accident or emergency) issues.

Acute care services (sometimes known as Accident & Medical services) are for people who experience sudden illness, accidents, or injuries that do not appear to be life threatening but cannot wait until the next day.

Kaipara Medical Centre provides an Acute Care Walk-In Service, 8.30am - 3pm, Monday to Friday. Pricing is the same as standard appointments.

Please note, there may be a wait time depending on the number of people visiting at the same time. We operate on a triage basis - meaning more seriously ill patients will receive priority care.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us care for our community.

School holidays are nearly here

With the school holidays just around the corner, we know many families will be adjusting their routines. Whether you're planning a getaway or enjoying some downtime at home, it's a great time to prioritise health and wellbeing.

If your child is due for a check-up, immunisations, or you’ve been meaning to book an appointment for yourself, now might be the perfect opportunity while schedules are a little more flexible. Our team is here to help with any health needs over the break.

We also encourage families to stay active, eat well, and take some time to rest and recharge during the holidays. If you are travelling, make sure you have enough of any regular medications before you go. Remember, repeat prescriptions can be ordered through the MyIndici portal.

Talking helps

Not feeling like yourself lately? Talking to someone you trust can help. Whether it’s a friend, whānau member or colleague, opening up can ease stress and help you feel more supported. You don’t need a diagnosis, just a willingness to start the kōrero. Find practical tips to help you begin the conversation here.

Book an appointment with Health Coach Roz or Health Improvement Practitioner Lou to support both your mental and physical wellbeing and make lasting lifestyle changes.

Need after-hours care?

A friendly reminder that we will be closed this Friday 20 June due to the Matariki public holiday.

Our after-hours service, Ka Ora Telecare, is available to our patients from 5pm to 8am (evening and overnight) on weekdays, and 24 hours during weekends and public holidays. Call 09 420 8400 to access Ka Ora during these times, where you will speak directly to a Kaiawhina or Nurse. The team will assess your health needs, and if needed, you can either have a telehealth appointment with a Clinician directly or you may choose to schedule an appointment later in the evening. Your health records will then be updated once your appointment is complete.
