Acute Care walk-in clinic
The team at Kaipara Medical Centre is pleased to announce that we will be providing an Acute Care Walk-In Service from Monday 11 November, which will operate 9am - 3pm, Monday to Friday.
This walk-in clinic will be for our enrolled patients only, and will operate at standard appointment costs. No appointments are needed.
What is Acute Care?
Acute care services (sometimes known as Accident & Medical services) are for people who experience sudden illness, accidents, or injuries that do not appear to be life threatening but can’t wait until the next day. You don't need an appointment to visit the acute care clinic - we welcome unscheduled, walk-ins for enrolled Kaipara Medical Patients only.
There may be a wait time depending on the number of people visiting at the same time and we will be operating on a triage basis, meaning more seriously ill patients will receive priority care.
If you have any further questions about the Acute Care Clinic, please feel free to call our reception team on 09 420 8400.
In case of an emergency, please always call 111.
Payment update for appointments
We will now require all appointment fees to be paid at the time of appointment, rather than being paid via invoice as you may have done previously. We are making this change to reduce administrative loads for our staff, to free up their time to continue to serve you and bring you the care you need.
If payment on the day is a problem for your whānau, please ask our reception team to speak with you privately and discreetly, so we can discuss how we can resolve this with you.
Christmas and New Year's hours and prescriptions
The Christmas holiday period is quickly approaching, and we want to make sure that you are ready with what you need while we are closed.
Now is a good time to start thinking about your prescriptions to make sure you will have enough on hand to get through the closedown period.
If you know you’re not going to have enough, please look at booking your next appointment or ordering your repeat prescription soon.
Key dates for your diary
The last day to order phone scripts will be Friday, 20 December 2024, and you will be able to do so again from Monday, 6 January 2025. Repeat scripts via the patient portal will continue, however, processing will be subject to working days and so wait times may be longer than normal.
Please click here for our Christmas/New Year clinic hours for 2024/25. We will be operating with reduce hours and staffing during this time and there will be no routine bookable appointments, only on the day appointments.
Our Afterhours service, Ka ora Telecare, is available to our patients from 5pm to 8am (evening and overnight) on weekdays, and 24 hours during weekends and public holidays. Call 09 420 8400 to access Ka Ora during these times.
We'll be at the Big Little Local Event
The Big Little Local event will be held on Saturday, 23 November at the Rautawhiri Park Pavilion (Helensville Tennis Club) from 10am to 3pm.
This is an opportunity for you to meet with others in the community and hear about the local services and businesses in the Helensville area - check out some photos below of the team there last year. We'd love to see you again, so be sure to say hello to the team if you come and visit - we'll have more goodies for you to take away with you too!
Spring allergies and illnesses
Spring has arrived and the weather is certainly getting warmer. For those with allergies, it can be an uncomfortable time as pollens from trees and weeds, and also grass can irritate many people - you'll often hear this referred to as hay fever.
Common allergy symptoms can include itchy or watery eyes, a runny or blocked nose, and sneezing. Antihistamines are a great way to combat these symptoms - speak to your GP or local pharmacist to see if they may help.
