Nurse Prescribers work in collaboration with our wider team here at Kaipara Medical Centre and can help with a range of topics including long-term conditions, specific medication reviews, mental health, sexual health, contraception, and UTI treatment. 

Scope - A RNP is a Registered Nurse with advanced assessment and diagnostic skills. They generally see patients face to face and can prescribe certain medicines from a designated list. They provide consults for acute presentations such as common infections & minor injuries and see patients living with long term conditions such as Diabetes and Hypertension (high blood pressure).

Collaborative Approach - At Kaipara Medical, our Nurse Prescriber works in a collaborative team with your Health provider (General Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner), Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistant (HCA), Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP), Health Coach, and Awhi Ora. Together as a collaborative team, we aim to provide a wraparound health and wellness service that has traditionally been done by a 'GP only'.

RNP Clinics – At Kaipara Medical, we also offer the following clinics in addition to our standard appointments:

• Young adult clinic (18-24years old)
• Contraception/LARC clinic
• Sexual Health/Smear clinic
• Wellness appointments where we provide mental health consults and support emotional wellbeing in conjunction with our Health Coach and Health Improvement Practitioner.
